Reverence 09/13/2009
This morning at church was very touching. I thought about my priorities lately and was reminded that there's only one thing in this life for living for, and that is Jesus. We have a desire to put all of our heart in something; to be a part of something greater than ourselves; to worship. For some what they worship can be music, money, a love affair or a possession. What are you worshiping? Is it worthy of all of your heart? Is it worth living for? Worth dying for? I don't want to live my life and forget what its really about, what's truly important, and waste away in this american dream. World Suicide Prevention Day. 09/12/2009
http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/wspd_2009_statement.pdf http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/suicideprevent/en/index.html Jamie's note (TWLOHA) What comes to mind when you hear the words "Suicide Prevention"? Is it really possible to prevent suicide? We know it isn't simple. We know it isn't easy. But we do believe in hope and we do believe in help, and we believe that people need other people. And if those ideas are real and true, then we believe that it is possible to prevent suicide. And we don't think it's a work only for the experts. We believe there's a part for all of us to play, that perhaps suicide prevention begins in countless simple miracles every single day. Perhaps it starts with two friends sitting down for coffee... And one of them asks "How are you doing". Perhaps it starts when we choose to live less alone, when we choose to let people in - to know us, to love us, to walk alongside us. Call it "community" or call it the way things are supposed to be. We're willing to say that suicide prevention starts there - it starts when we're willing to talk, willing to ask the hard question, willing to say the honest thing. Maybe the bravest move we'll ever make it to ask for help. Or ask how we can help someone we love. Maybe it starts when we push back at the stereotype and the lies that fuel the stigma that says pain is something we're not allowed to talk about, or that pain is for people a certain age who dress a certain way and like a certain song. Those are lies. The truth is that pain is part of being human. The questions will continue to come. We all get stuck in moments. The good news is that there is also hope and love and change. The good news is that we were meant for friends. The good news is counseling and treatment. The good news is that we don't have to go alone. "Suicide Prevention." What's your part to play? We're all invited. Smile at someone, know someone, say something, ask the question, make the call, take the drive. Every life is priceless and fragile. We get to guard and fight and care, for the people around us. There are plenty of things to fight about and for over the course of our lives - let's remember that people are the most important thing, the brightest surprises on the planet. Let's remember that every single person has a story entirely unique and incredibly important, but not everyone can see it. And what a privilege that we get to do our best to remind and invite people, to believe better things, to believe that it's possible to change, to believe that life is worth living... We're not saying that it's easy. But we're saying that it's worth it. Love is the movement. Thank you for caring. jamie Remembering 9/11 09/11/2009
Ashley & Nigel 09/07/2009
Ashley got married yesterday! It was a beautiful day, everything went very smoothly, Everyone loved our dresses and one of their photographers was someone I actually worked with before. Small world! The ceremony was at The New Bolton Center, and the reception was at Styers in the green house. It was really awesome. I'll post some photos once they're available. I'm still exhausted; it was so much fun. :) This Dave person and I should be friends 08/31/2009

Had a great weekend. Hung out with Matty saturday afternoon and just relaxed so I could be rested up for Ashley's bachelorette party which was in the evening. It was soooo much fun! We went out to dinner, and then to Isla Verde for some salsa dancing in the city! It was awesome. Evidently Latino men don't get the whole veil thing when a woman is getting married. You know how at bachelorette's, you always make the bridal wear one of those tacky tiaras with a veil attached?? Yeah, Ash was wearing one of them, and the whole evening these people asking "which one of you is getting married?" We were like come on! she doesn't wear these as decorations for a girls night out! haha o man it was hilarious. We had a blast. Salsa is a workout. Sunday after church my sister dragged me into the city to learn Lindy (a form of swing dancing) Between that and the night before my legs were hurting. I was dead tired, but it was totally worth it. We ate dinner at Cosi's, and later I went over to Matt's since I hadn't seen him all day! A Penny Loafer Saved, A Penny Loafer Earned 08/30/2009
"Penny loafers are absurd. Why on earth would you take your two cents worth, And stick them in your girly shoes? Well after all, Why not at least use quarters, So then you can make a phone call?" I still hate the Bronco. 08/28/2009
The other night I went Victor Cafe with Kim to see a friend of mine that I know from Kutztown. It was pretty cool. Last night was Matt's & my anniversary. How I love him so :) Today, the fam and I went to Spring Valley, NJ. One of my mom's coworkers just spent the weekend there and heard that it was a cute place so she wanted to go check it out. It was indeed cute. Katie and I splashed around the water a little bit, then we went out to lunch. Afterward we looked around some of the boutiques and eventually started venturing home to which we hit the thunder storm AND traffic on 476. woo! <--sarcasm. (Not everyone picks up on it) cleaning & organizing. && yes, I'm actually having fun doing it. listening to Eric Hutchinson. He's rocking my world right now. Mini goodness 08/22/2009
![]() Matt & I played Putt-Putt. I beat him. again. & it was awesome. After I won and had 3 holes in 1, we played in the little arcade thing. We set a new high score on the basketball game, and took our winnings to receive 2 paper airplanes & 2 tootsie rolls. We put together our airplanes, and drove home with them out the windows. Playing in between traffic lights. It was awesome. |
